I couldn’t resist stopping at one of the most magical places in the Cotswolds.
📍The Rollright Stones. Great Rollright.
Legend has it that it is impossible to count the King’s Men. It is said that the man will never live who shall count the stones three times and find the number the same each time. It is also said that anyone who thrice counts the same number will have their heart’s desire fulfilled. (It is harder than you might expect!) A baker swore he could count them and, to prove it, he baked a number of loaves and placed one on each of the stones. But each time he tried to collect them up some of the loaves were missing, spirited away either by the Devil or by fairies.

The 3 MUST visit Cotswold gardens this Spring.

1. Sezincote House and Gardens. At first you think, ‘What is a 200 year old Mogul Indian palace doing smack bang in the middle of the rolling Cotswold Hills’ but this stunning house and garden quickly charms you with its grottoes, waterfalls and canals set in a breathtakingly beautiful landscape.
🌷🌷.
2. Bourton House and Gardens. Traditional, modest and full of the most wonderful tulips at this time of year. The hedges bordering the lawn are so beautifully manicured you feel as if you are in a fairytale.
🌷🌷.
Batsford Arboretum. Home to a forest of Giant Redwoods, an ancient tree stump and a Japanese waterfall. The garden centre here is jam packed with local produce and flowers and so much cheaper than Burford or Daylesford.
A real highlight is the falconry centre next door which houses over 40 species and puts on daily shows of the birds flying.

Is Daylesford really the most expensive farm shop in the entire country…YES!!

Don’t get me wrong, the fresh produce is unbeatable, the homewares are beautiful and inspire stunning table set ups but if you’re planning the weekly shop here make sure you take out a mini loan before you go.

Phew! Thursday back in the Cotswolds after a 10 day jaunt around Europe. Yes….Tuscany is beautiful however the Cotswolds in Springtime is unbeatable.

Let’s showcase @kingsheadinnbledington. This quintessential Cotswold pub is tucked away behind the village green between the villages of Kingham and Stow on the Wold.

Top tip-The back garden is a real sun trap, surrounded by Spring blooms and a wisteria canopy. You feel like you have been transported into a fairy tale.

Order from the gin board…..keep it local. We have some amazing gin producers. @woodbrosdistilling is my personal favourite paired with a Mediterranean tonic and plenty of ice.
.We didn’t see any bantams.
.Walking routes to and from are stunning and cover lots of arable farm land full of rapeseed, wild deer and birdlife.

The ultimate 2 days in the Cotswolds this Spring.

Stay in Magnolia Cottage in Moreton in Marsh-The station is a 5 minute walk and trains run from London every hour.

First stop, the beautiful village of Churchill. The blossom trees are in full bloom, the daffodils line the church gardens and there is a much quieter vibe than some of the surrounding villages.

Day 2-Be sure to wake up early to catch the sunrise from the bedroom windows.
The circular walk starting from the fish pond in the village takes you through golden field of rapeseed, areas of woodland and across the edge of Batsford Arboretum-the scent of cherry blossom fills the air.

Next hit @daylesfordfarm for one of the most indulgent beauty treatments. My favourite is their signature massage. Choose your own oil depending on your mood. The farm shop is sensational and worth a browse but shopping there is a very expensive activity.

Golden hour-the most important time of day-An absolute must is drinks on the terrace @thefeatherednestinn. The view of the countryside is the best in the entire Cotswolds.
You can also dine outside but we opted for a cosy table indoors to sample their extensive wine list.
🍷🍶.
Early on your last morning do not miss a trip to Bourton on the Water before the crowds. The best time is 8am. @bakeryonthewater is open and the smell of freshly baked croissants wafts through the air. Take a coffee and cinnamon bun and sit on the banks of the river watching the world go by.

Firstly, this isn’t just a tourists pub. This place has a heart ♥️ . Sitting at a quiet table in the corner you can people watch as locals come by, pull up a bar stool and share stories about their day.
The Quiet corners are perfect for a date night and the Quirky art and taxidermy an excellent talking point.
The extensive bar menu served during witching hour does not disappoint. Mini burgers, crispy beef salad, home made scotch egg and veggie gyozas ensured we left feeling very full and content.
Pub games and lots of them, loser pays the bill.
Of course, they are 🐕 friendly and have a cute patio garden for alfresco dining.
