Our 5 best dog friendly pubs!

Updated: Sep 3, 2022

With Summer drawing to a close I think it's time to shout out about the places we have been frequenting over the last few months!

Along with our side kick Bo and a few good friends we've explored The Cotswolds even further through the likes of different foods, drinks and walks!

All for the purpose of recommending the best places to our wonderful guests! (Not a perk at all...)

When staying in our pet friendly cottages, we know our guests adore going for walks and exploring the local area...

...We also know that walks are wayyy better when there's a pub waiting for you with a sign saying "Food served here!".

Below we have a few walkable places we can recommend and a few a bit further out that are definitely worth the drive!

The Plough- Cold Aston

Next-door to our Greystones Cottage, The Plough Inn is a local love of ours.

With a super friendly team, great selection of drinks and padron peppers to die for!

This place is perfect for lunch/dinner/drinks/snacks...

Just perfect actually!

A beautiful piece of Cotswold history with it's flagstone flooring, original beams and a roaring fire, this grade 2 listed 17th century pub is a beautiful place to sit back and relax.

Their menu features a mix between pub food and premium dishes using the most local and seasonal produce. Their new head chef starts this week so we're very much looking forward to trying his food!

We can always rely on The Plough for a perfectly lit fire in the Winter and an ice cold glass of rose in the sunshine in Summer!

The Kings Head- Bledington

Just a 15 minute drive from Bourton on the Water or an hour and a half walk from Stow on the Wold.

"An idyllic Cotswold Inn gloriously situated on a picturesque village green"

- Could not have said it better myself!

This place is beautifully decorated with the greatest attention to detail with every little thing. An impressive menu filled with seasonal goods, locally sourced produce and organic ingredients. With the quality level of a high end restaurant and the relaxed feel of a country pub, this place has captured the atmosphere of The Cotswolds perfectly!

Not forgetting your four legged family members who most likely aren't fussed by how locally their ingredients are sourced. There are 3 walking routes surrounding the pub that are great for before or after lunch or dinner!

If you're also following the trend of loving real ales, you'll be impressed at The Kings Head as they have a great selection on their bar.

The Fox at Oddington

Newly reopened and FABULOUS!

Flushed with the highest quality decor, blessed with the most attentive front of house team and graced with one of the nicest pub gardens we've ever been in!

The restaurant itself is spacious and clean with an open kitchen so you can watch the talented chefs create the most incredible food. Using organic ingredients sourced straight from Daylesford Farm (Sister to The Fox), the menu is very seasonal and boasts the best local produce.

The Fox is the ultimate example of Cotswold dining, style and atmosphere.

Complete with a large garden and comfy outdoor seating, the garden is a delight for the younger members of the family and the furry ones!

The Swan at Swinbrook

An intimate and relaxed space for a wonderful family meal. Fine dining food without the 'fine' portions, arrive hungry and leave happy!

Priding themselves on using beef from the same village in their dishes, their varied menu means there's something for the whole family to choose from.

The team greet you like an old friend and are really passionate about the food and drink that they serve.

Imagine the best Sunday roast you've ever eaten... Theirs is ten times better!!!

Again, there are lots of beautiful walks surrounding this absolute gem for you to enjoy a nice after dinner walk to let your food settle.

The Frogmill- Andoversford

We're lucky enough to have the official

"Best pub in the UK 2022"

just round the corner from us!

It's no surprise they received this award...their espresso martinis are one of my favourite things, the customer service is impeccable and the outdoor space is so tranquil.

With an ever adapting menu, the chefs have the job of creating pure perfection day after day! Their terrace is a great space to relax, enjoy great food, good cocktails and loving company.

If you're a fan of live music and chilled DJ sets, Sundays here are for you!

Boasting a roaring fireplace in the main restaurant and fire pits outside, this place is also perfect for Autumn/Winter visits!

If you're bringing your fluffy friends, we'd recommend visiting on a Thursday for "Chateubriand Day" (...Only in The Cotswolds) I'm sure they'll appreciate any scraps! Ideal for a romantic date night, share a carafe of wine and steak between two for £60.

So now you know where we've spent our Summer evenings!

I'm sure these incredible pubs have only just restocked their rosé...

We hope you enjoy these places as much as we do!
