Readers, sing along with me:
"It's the most wonderful time of the year"
Yes! You've got it!
We're subtly talking about Christmas as some (us) would say it is best spent in The Cotswolds!
To those Grinches & Scrooges who have accidentally wound up on our blog...I'd sign off now before it gets a bit too "merry and bright" for you!
With Halloween out of the way and the school half term over, it's time to start thinking about Christmas!
Mariah Carey is defrosting ready to sing some high notes and Michael Buble is most likely launching ANOTHER Christmas album!
We're writing today to fill you in on how to spend Winter in The Cotswolds!
Check into a Cotswold Cottage Gem!
We're not bias, but our cottages are exactly what you're looking for in a winter staycation base.
Log fire? Tick!
Hot tub? Tick!
Central locations? Tick!
Pet friendly? Woof!
We pride ourselves on providing the ultimate home from home experience but with an added touch of Cotswold luxury! All twelve of our cottages are ideal for family getaways or catch ups with friends!
2. Sudeley Castle Spectacle of Light
In it's 7th year of sparkling glory, Sudeley Castle is home to one of the most magical Cotswold winter events. Just a 25 minute drive from our cottages, we can recommend this as a family event and as a romantic date night! Take a walk through their illuminated trail, dance among the flower garden and warm up with a festive glass of mulled wine or a hot chocolate! We'd recommend prebooking! Running 25th November - 30th December!
3. Book a table at The Feathered Nest Country Inn for a cosy meal by the fire!
The ultimate Cotswold dining experience for any foodies and wine enthusiasts!
We probably spend too much time here but honestly if you visit you'd see why!
With a seasonal menu and occasional specials, the food is absolutely incredible! The kitchen team definitely know what they're doing- think Michelin star level but with Michelin man portions.
Their wine cellar is to die for...literally we'd gladly be buried alive in there! Head to the website to see what all the fuss is about!
4. A crisp winter walk to Upper and Lower Slaughter. Whether it's a morning walk with the dog to wake you up or a leisurely stroll for a pub lunch this is one of the most postcard perfect places in The Cotswolds! Just a forty minute walk from Bourton on the Water this is ideal for family members who perhaps aren't as keen on walking but is breathtaking for those who love the outdoors! If you're staying in Stow it's a longer journey but great to escape the hustle and bustle of the Christmas shoppers in the square!
5. Fairytale of New York at the Cheltenham Town Hall
Direct from the West End, this is the ultimate Christmas show with singing, dancing and lots of cheer! Just a few minutes walk from the Christmas Market, this is a great destination for festivities to take place! Whilst in Cheltenham, the shops are open later for gift shopping and there are plenty of places to grab some food or sit down for a nice glass of wine!
If you have scrolled all the way to the bottom...
Merry Christmas from all of us at Cotswold Cottage Gems!
